| Hello, thank you for taking
a look at my personal bio page. This is a sample for for you to use as a guide for
preparing your own personal bio for the Christian Connect Members Only Referral section of
this web site. I grew up in Clearwater Florida and attended a Presbyterian church during my entire youthful years. I now attend Peachtree Presbyterian Church. I have spent seven years in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam era. Following the military, I eventually found myself in the restaurant business. I have managed restaurants in Clearwater Florida, St. Thomas in the U.S.V.I and here in Atlanta. My restaurant career spans about 18 years, with most of it in Atlanta. During those restaurant years, I was pretty much the typical manager. Long hours, significant party life, little sleep. During those years, my father would always ask me about my church life. Short answer, there was none. Eventually I left full-time restaurant management and started a small restaurant software business dealing with inventory control and menu costing. I survived but never did real well even though I did have some high profile clients. The questions kept coming from my father. One day, I gave in. There was no real reason for me to not start attending church again, but by now, it had been almost 20 years since any regular attendance. I had always considered myself a believer, a Christian, but that was as far as it went. I was surely a poor representation of what anyone would call a Christian. As God would have it, I found myself in charge of a 9:00 AM Bible study class on Sunday mornings within 3 months of starting at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. What was I thinking? As you will soon see, I wasn't thinking, but God was! I soon realized that I was getting a lot of information dished out to me, but I was remembering very little. So I devised a little note-taking system that suited me just fine. Simple little forms in my trusty daytimer. One thing lead to another and the collection of little forms appeared as if they would make a nice little journal / notebook. I did not know how I was going to pull this off and there were constant thoughts of what am I doing? This isn't me! Or was it? There is far too much that really goes in between the lines, but through all of that, Christ Minders Journals was born. During all this time, God put another thought in my head. One Christmas, I learned about a concert that I would have liked to attend. I found out about it too late. I wondered how often this happened to other people as well. Gods Open Doors was then conceived and born. It is a web site to share Atlanta area Christian events and much more. Up till now, it has mostly been a failure even though it still exists. This is so for many reasons, not appropriate for this bio. The point is, is that God sent me on another path. He called me to do something else again. By now, I had learned and decided that if the thought gets placed on my mind, might just as well do it. Life with God is a journey. No one thing is the destination as I was finding out. As part of Gods Open Doors, one thing that seemed to fit the profile was a Christian Business Directory. That thought has gone through many transformations and has surely been done before. I wanted it to be different, to be better, to be more useful and more available. I made all that happen, but could not promote it. At that point, someone introduced me to networking groups. What a great idea. The first group I found basically said that because I was promoting a Christian service, that that particular group was probably not for me. In other words, try somewhere else. The person who invited me to that group suggested, why don't you start your own Christian group? Like I said before, if something gets put in my head and it makes sense, I really do just go for it. I will figure out how to do it as I go. The Atlanta Christians In Business Network was born and here we are. I am sure that there is more to come, that's what always happens. One destination is not necessarily the final goal. There is always more. Life has not been easy during this time. It is said that adversity stimulates creativity and motivation. That is certainly true. God has kept placing more things in front of me to do, and even though I had no idea what I was doing, the thought of serving God and improving my life circumstances at the same time was definitely a calling for me. I would never have thought in a million years only 8 years ago that I would be doing all of this. If God calls, listen and respond, even though you have no idea what to do or how to do it. If God calls, He will show you how and put people in your life to help make it happen. I ask for your prayers, for this network, Christ Minders and Gods Open Doors, that they become whatever they are meant to become. I pray that you will participate and come along for the ride with me and see where all this is going to go. God is not finished yet. I also pray that if God has not yet shown you what it is that you are supposed to do, that you will hear His whispers in your ear and that you will feel that sense of calling in your life. Thank you for reaching the bottom of this. The whole point of the personal bio's in this network is to give others more confidence and a higher comfort level in their referrals; to know more about the person you may be about to call on the phone or send an email to; to help know what makes a person tick; to understand their passions and so much more. My Needs and Desires: Someone has said, that if you can help enough other people get what they want, you will get what you want. I truly want to help you satisfy your networking needs and desires. I want to provide a simple framework with this network to help you. Please tell me how I can best accomplish this for you. My Passions: My life is consumed with serving God and serving Atlanta with this network, Christ Minders and Gods Open Doors. I love creating things and making them work. Michael |
